Something amazing just happened
6:12pm. June 4th 2014. I just woke up from a nap. How I’m feeling: It’s been a tough day – I’ve been feeling not so strong and I woke up with some cankers in my mouth (another chemo side effect) which has made it very difficult for me to eat. As a result, I had to cancel some plans that I was really looking forward to. But now, I’m feeling better – what I woke up to helped 🙂 I’ll tell you all about it right….now. So, something amazing just happened. As I’m getting ready to spend time with a friend this evening, I open up my email – and read one that just made me cry (Happy tears, don’t worry!) Eight days ago, I spoke at an event to a group of entrepreneurs about the power and strength of vulnerability (You can read about it here). At the end of the event, the host – Gwen Elliot of Start Something Big announced to the group that she had set up a CrowdTilt campaign to pool a bunch of money together to send me to an incredible spa treatment at Elmwood Spa. Since then, there have been friends (and even some strangers) whom have been helping make it happen by contributing what they can. Last night, I noticed that the contributions had reached just over $600.00. I was so blown away! And just now, I received an email from Lisa Ng of Hip Urban Girl whom reached out to Elmwood Spa to see if there was anything they could do. Low and behold, the folks at Elmwood Spa topped off the contributions to reach (and exceed) the goal of $810.98! I want to send a HUGE heartfelt thank you to all 20 people who contributed. To Lisa Ng: Thanks a bunch for reaching out to Elmwood Spa. To Elmwood Spa: I’m so touched by your kind gesture! To Gwen Elliot: Thanks so much for having me speak at your event and thoughtfully setting up the campaign! To my friends at Project Owl: For providing your incredible space for the event. To the CrowdTilt Canada team – whom is comprised of some really good people and friends of mine – Rayanne, Tim and Sarah, thanks so much for working with such an incredible platform and for suggesting the idea to Gwen to set up the campaign for me. I can’t wait to swing by soon to give you all a hug in person. I have not yet been to Elmwood Spa – but I’ve always heard incredible things about it. While, I have been to a few spas – it sounds like this “7-hour Decadent Retreat” is going to kick all those other spa experiences’ ass. I’m reading the description right now – and ’50 minute four hands massage’?! Whhhhhat? Score! hahah. I’ll be sure to tell you all about my experience with Elmwood. I’ll have to figure out when I can go. With all of my appointments, chemotherapy and radiation – I want to make sure that I’m in OK shape to really take in the experience. I’m so beyond happy, grateful and thankful right now! Thank you, everyone 🙂 P.S. Check out Gwen’s post about this happy moment here.
